Seven accessions of Daucus genus were used as a source of
protoplasts, including three wild subspecies of D. carota
(D. carota subsp. azoricus, subsp. drepanensis, subsp.
maritimus), three wild species of Daucus (D. aureus, D.
pusillus, D. montevidensis) and, as a control, cultivated
carrot (D. carota L. subsp. sativus Hoffm., breeding line
9304B). Seeds were derived from research centers and
gene banks (Table 1).
