Requirement Summary: Ability for Enterprises to enable the Virtual SIM capability and manage virtual SIM device assignments from BES12 console
1) Enable Virtual SIM service
1.a) Activate virtual line capability on BES12 based upon the carrier(s) the Enterprise has virtual SIM arrangements with
1.b) Admin is able to view a list of supported carrier(s) to select the applicable carrier(s) when they activate the virtual line capability
2) Virtual Phone Line profiles - Ability for BES admin to configure Virtual Phone Line profile(s) and assign these to groups.
2.a) Enable BYOD feature for a Virtual Line Profile – Default single virtual number
2.b) Enable BYON / COPE feature for a Virtual Line Profile – Default single virtual number
2.c) Lower Priority - Set max number of Personal Virtual Numbers MANUALLY (alternative to BYOD / COPE profile - this allows more control over the app behaviour)
2.d) Lower Priority - Set max number of Work Virtual Numbers MANUALLY (alternative to BYOD / COPE profile - this allows more control over the app behaviour)
3) Virtual Number Provisioning - Ability to manage virtual number assignments
3.a) Add WORK virtual number to device
3.b) View virtual number status per device
3.c) View virtual number assignment for each device
3.d) Lower Priority – Deactivate/reactivate virtual number from device - BES Admin want to deactivate an existing virtual number to a device so that the WORK virtual number is temporarily not in use (will be removed from the device but remains allocated to user) – eg. User goes on temporary leave and then returns
3.e) Transfer virtual number - BES Admin want to transfer an existing virtual number from device A (SIM) to device B (SIM, probably will be different users) so that the new device B can start using this number (new hire replaces A)
3.f) Release virtual number - BES Admin want to release a virtual number from a device (SIM) so that the number is no longer available for that device (SIM) and the number is returned back to the enterprise pool (ready to be provisioned to another user)
Devices to be supported: BB10, iOS, Android, (Windows Phone – depending upon Movirtu strategy)
Business Justification:
Support for Virtual SIM with a level of BES integration will provide a differentiated offering in the market. Telecom Expense Management through the use of Virtual SIM is a significant opportunity for BlackBerry to offer a solution to the problem of Enterprises to pay for business use of BYOD devices only.
