The
results show that the hybrid particles are composed of Ag and AgCl
with ratio of 1.04:1, indicating that 50% of metallic Ag atoms are
newly formed on the surface of AgCl particles. However, the spatial
distribution of the metallic Ag in the Ag:AgCl hybrid crystals cannot
be clearly imaged with either EDS mapping or electron microscopic
techniques due to the instability of AgCl under the high
energy electron beam.
