3.2. Upstream/downstream study
Results of the Upstream/Downstream Study are summarized inTable 2. There was no significant difference in velocity of waterflow through the facility from upstream to downstream samplingpoints (p = 0.26). DO levels were higher upstream than downstreamof the aquaculture facility on every sampling date except June 3,and there was a significant decrease in DO from upstream to down-stream throughout the sampling period (p = 0.0001). The regressionto compare change in DO concentration with flow velocity (Table 3)found no correlation (R2= 0.044; Fig. 3).Salinity at the site ranged from a low of 8.7 ppt on July 25,to a high of 12.3 ppt on September 20. No significant differencein salinity from the upstream to downstream side of the facilitywas found (p = 0.30). Temperature also did not vary significantlyfrom upstream to downstream as water passed through the facility (p = 0.1). Temperatures ranged from a low of 21.1◦C on May 28, toa high of 30.3◦C on July 16.
