We would like to presence a sample process of ‘H-Shape Column Welding sequences’ that decided to lift it up in vertical position by slotted them in “Welding platform” for CJP weld continuity plates. Actually, we can be able to start welding around base plate in 1st portion then move up to 2nd portion for one sided connection column (A-TYPE) where similar assembly processes two sided connection column (B-TYPE) on design (S5.22). If some portions unable to be apply in fabrication part or need some changes in assembly processes, please shear an idea.
Other two attachments are sample side plates column (H-Shape) drawings from past THC’s project that similar with 1328_Santa Clara-FJC project and Welding Platform concept design (Rev.B).
My first concern is a step#3 of 2nd portion (pages 8 & 9) in flexed separation of side plates and tack top ‘DOG’ between side plates for shipment to the field. These two processes should belong to fabrication preparation that would be appeared on THC’s shop drawings. Please review carefully on this step then find a way to perform with this condition.
Second is how we can fit a column into the Welding platform with in case of three or four directions of side plates. If refer to THC’s sample side plate columns that it might be long = 8’-4_1/2 “ (2.553 Meters) for two directions. The Welding platform just designed for two sizes opening 1 meter & 1.5 meter.
Last one is safety cable material that are two sizes sp81 – PL5/8”x2_1/4” (at web) x 3” & sp82 – FB3/8”x3” x 6” (at flange) where are not too many pieces. Did we allow a cost for material grade A36?
We will move to ‘Box-Shape Column Welding sequences’ that hasn’t used electro slag welding same as 1326_222 Second Street project. It is quite complicated & more details than H-Shape welding sequences. We will distribute to all concerns review later on.
