The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched an H-IIA rocket, carrying Canadian Telesat broadcast and communications satellite on Tuesday.
It is the first time a Japanese-made rocket carried a commercial satellite to space.
The improved H-IIA rocket was launched from Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima Space Centre in southwestern Japan at 15:50 Japan local time (0650 GMT).
It was developed by Japan as it aims to be more competitive in the area of international satellite launching services.
The production was a joint project between JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI)
