Abstract—The paper proposes an architecture named Loglo for
information integration. Building on SOA, Loglo integrates the
heterogeneous information based on the descriptor loosely. Core
roles in Loglo are the information provider, the information
requestor and the information registry. The information provider
is a web service that integrates and offers the information upon
the request from the information requestor. The information
registry consisting of several local registries and a global registry
holds the meta-information of all public information. The local
registry locates on the same node with information provider,
while the global registry locates on a public node that can be
accessed by any user in system. Each piece of network-accessed
information has a description document that serves as the
descriptor of information. The descriptor contains the necessary
meta-information to integrate multiple information sources into
target information, and plays an important role in Loglo
architecture. Built on Web Services, Loglo offers information to
the requestor with dedicated service-IIS, and supports the loose
integration of information. We design a prototype of Loglo and
implement the integration of information in several databases, in
pure text files and from sensors.
Key Words: information integration; descriptor; SOA
