This temple is located in the main town of Roi Et. The third-class royal temple was formerly known as Wat Hua Ro, and was later renamed as Wat Buraphaphiram. It contains Thailand’s tallest standing Buddha image, known as Phra Phuttha Rattanamongkhon Mahamuni or Luangpho Yai.
The massive statue was built with reinforced concrete, standing nearly 60 meters high, even without the base (which itself is about 8 meters high). A museum holds exhibits and displays, and is located at its base. The statue and site are widely revered by locals.
