Due to its negative effects on microbial activity and soil physical properties, soil salinity poses a major threat to soil productivity in arable croplands (Kang et al., 2005, Masoud and Koike, 2006 and Lobell et al., 2007) and salinization has become a worldwide problem restricting global crop production and food quality (Kammann et al., 2011). Salt-affected croplands are still extending due to poor water resources and unfavorable irrigation in the countries of Australia, Pakistan, China and Indonesia
