The New Directions programs is divided into four phases
- Phases one acclimates workers by providing expectations and product training
- Phases two is a one-day training session that gives new hires information on the company’s history, strategy, policies, and benefits
- Phases three spans he first three months on the job and focuses on training workers about the market, its customers, and business plans.
- Phases four carries on through at least six months and consists of interim reviews and feedback.
The program has helped reduce the company’s high turnover rate for first-year employees. A number of other companies, such as Texas instruments, have similar program
