2.6.1. Enumeration of L. acidophilus
The numbers of L. acidophilus were determined using MRS Agar
(de Man Rogosa Sharpe Agar, pH 5.4, Oxoid, Hampshire, UK). 10 g of
sample was taken from each soymilk drink samples. Serial ten-fold
dilutions were prepared in a solution of with 0.1% (w/v) bacto
peptone. Appropriate dilutions were plated to MRS Agar plates and
incubated at 37 C for 3 days under microaerophilic conditions
(Bozanic et al., 2008). After the incubation period, the colonies were
counted and the number of L. acidophilus was calculated.
