Winterbourne looked across at Diaisy and Giovanelli. They had got up from their seats and walked toward the low wall at the edge of the garden. They saw no one and nothing else. They were thinking only about each other. When they reached the low wall, they sat down on it. At that moment, the sun shone from behind a cloud. Giovaneli took Daisy's parasol and opened it. She moved closer to him, and he held it over her head. Then Giovenelli lowered the parasol, so that Winterbourne could no longer see their faces.
Winterbourne waited for a moment, and then he started to walk. But he did not walk towards Daisy and Giovanelli. He walked towards the apartment where his aunt was staying.
