As a result of these studies, an improved description of the Bay of Biscay physical system is now available, whilst the understanding of many important processes has significantly progressed (Borja and Collins, 2004).
The aim of this section of the contribution is to produce a general description of the regional water circulation in the Bay of Biscay.
More specifically, identify the characteristic patterns of the surface water dynamics for the period corresponding to dispersion of the Prestige oil spills.
Likewise, extract key processes which affected the evolution of the different pollutant patches.
