3.1. Cost of Dioxin and Furan Emission Control
3.1.1. Methodology
Data on the stack emissions of Dioxin and furan was collected for various operating incinerators.
Similarly data on capital costs and costs of operation and maintenance (O & M) were collected.
The annual amortized cost on capital investment for various incinerators using different technologies for incineration and emission control was worked out assuming10 years as the life of incinerator and 10% interest on capital investment.
This was added to the O&M cost per tonne (cost per day divided by totalwaste incinerated per day).
These two costs i.e., amortized cost (Rs/tonne) and O&M cost (Rs/tonne) were added to arrive at the total cost (Rs/tonne).
These costs were then plotted against the emission values
to illustrate their relationship.
