a food pyramid is a useful guideline when balancing the intake of our food. It was introduced in 1992 to recommend the amounts of different types of food required in an individual's daily balanced diet. It is made up of four different levels on which six groups of food are placed The food that occupy the large base of the pyramid (Level 1) are carbohydrate-rich foods that can be taken at every meal and in as clude snacks Those in the second level are fruits and vegetables that can be taken generously at every meal, followed by foods in the third level,which are mostly protein foods,to be eaten a little with meals Foods at the top of the pyramid are generally know as "junk food" They are not to be eaten too often as they are high in fats and carories.
