The colloquium started with a research project by Erna Gronlund, Barbro Renck, and Nita
Gyllander Vabo from Sweden “How depressed teenage girls can be helped by DMT.” The aim of
the study was to evaluate the effects of dance therapy for young girls with clinical depression. Thiscombined outcome and process study used different methods, both quantitative and qualitative, and multiple data sources to triangulate the data and increase validity. The authors additionally provided a case example on video. In addition to the encouraging results of D/MT as an effective treatment modality for depressed teenage girls, the researchers themselves embodied an excellent example of a reseach team. Composed of a senior D/MT researcher, a statistician and health scientist, and a young D/MT practicioner and starting researcher, their cooperation across disciplines and generations provided a valuable model for future D/MT research.
