ABSTRACT
The three objectives of this research was to study the 1) Level of Thai traditional medicine services in Udon Thani Province. 2) To development of strategy for Thai traditional medicine services in Udon Thani Province. 3) To assess plans and project for development strategy in Thai traditional medicine services in Udon Thani Province. Research design were used including survey and qualitative. There were three phases ; the first phases was study a level of Thai traditional medicine Services for clients' of Thai traditional medicine services in Udon Thani Province, population total 399 persons then analysis using on descriptive statistics : The second phase was strategy development of Thai traditional medicine services in Udon Thani Province. There are 40 participants were selected by used purposive sampling technique including public health officer, clients and stakeholders. Brainstorming technique was used to develop vision, mission goals, and strategy (program / project). The third phase was to assess strategy development of Thai traditional medicine services, focused on project operational plan to and relevant to development need assessment.
The results of first phase indicated that the overall level of Thai traditional medicine services in 5 aspects in a middle level ( = 3.24). Practice,Personnel, location, tools and the environment were in a high level, quality control in a middle level and service management was in a low level. The second phase indicate that Thai traditional medicine services strategy development in Udon Thani Province including 6 strategies. 1) quality control strategy. 2) human resource development strategy focused on public health officer who work in Thai Traditional Medical Services Department at Public Health service provider. 3) community development strategy. 4) management development strategy in order to support health promotion, health protection and rehab ability with Thai traditional medicine. 5) community participation for health promotion and health protection services strategy.6) social movement and public communication strategy. Research results of the third phase to assess strategy development of Thai traditional medicine services, found that assessment of objectives, activities, indicators and criteria for an acceptable frequency more than 80 percents found in every program / project requirements.
Suggestion carriers and stakeholders of quality control should focus on the protection system avoid incidence of risk. All level of health service units in Udon Thani should be having enough Thai traditional medicine persons for service to population and should be encourage all stakeholders to involve into a process of Thai traditional medicine policy development and develop standardization of work. The knowledge and information of Thai traditional medicine Should be communicated to all level of Public Health persons for understanding and communicating to community and population.
