All dry matters were determined by drying to constant weight
in a ventilated oven at 105 ◦C. The dried samples were then
weighed and ground in a mixer ball mill to a fine powder
which was used for carbon (dry combustion method, LECO-SC)
and mineral (Montanaro et al., 2010) determinations. Carbon
and minerals inputs were calculated for each organic component
by multiplying the carbon (and mineral) fraction by the
biomass (dry weight) produced per component and expressed as
kg ha−1 y−1.
