Awkward posture of the neck and back
Awkward posture of the neck and back was the
prominent ergonomic physical risk factor found among
nearly all of the participants. Out of 327 sewing machine
operators, almost all (n = 325) were at high risk
of developing MSD caused by awkward posture of the
neck and back according to the MSD risk assessment.
This was due to working in a sitting position bending
the neck more than 45◦ for more than 6–7 hours. Working
with the neck bent more than 45◦ for four hours
per day indicates high risk for MSDs
