It has also been reported that hen ages can affect the egg yolk cholesterol content (Zemkova’ and others 2007) and younger birds tend to produce higher cholesterol eggs (Oloyo 2003). The ability of PRE,PRO, or SYN diet to reduce the Yolk cholesterol levels at 24 and 28 weeks of age in this study could be exploited by producers for lowering the yolk cholesterol in layers during the early laying period. Egg consumption has been reported to contribute to 32% of total cholesterol intake (Hu and others 1999), thus, a reduction in yolk cholesterol would be beneficial to consumers, especially to hyper-responders to dietary fats.
