1. Sprinklers or fire hydrants must be connected to an adequate water supply.
2. If the facility is connected to a public water source, it must prove that they have adequate
water pressure (they need to provide a recent water flow test within the last two years, from
the local fire department or a fire safety consultant).
3. When a suction tank, elevated tank, or reservoir is present, facility managers should assess
the water level to check sufficient water supply and keep a monthly record of
inspections. Suction or elevated tanks should have a gauge to check the water level. The
water level should be within 1 foot (0.3 meter) of the full level; and
4. Prepare the inspection records for the auditor to review.
