First Steps:
Perform Visual/Mechanical Inspection (VMI) prior to Micro-inspection.
Remove the black tape from the logic board.
Follow Micro-inspection steps 1-8 (in order) when an iPhone 5s does not turn on.
Use a USB microscope with 20X-200X magnification, capable of capturing a close-up image of each identified area. Note: Component examples shown below.
Important: Unauthorized modifications alter the device's functionality and/or capability. A device with unauthorized modifications is no longer eligible for service.
Note: To process the repair and document test failure, use part number 011-0659, Micro-inspection 1.
Only inspect identified areas, as the surrounding components may vary.
Note: Some components may be covered or partially covered by black underfill.
Micro-Inspection Steps:
Check the serial number on the SIM card reader.
Check for missing or misplaced components near the display connector.
Check the components underneath the camera connector.
Check the components underneath the display connector.
Check the component count underneath the display connector.
Check the component count and soldering underneath the Sleep/Wake button connector.
Check the component count and soldering underneath battery connector and the dock flex connector.
Check the components on the center of the logic board.
Inspection #1: Check the serial number on the SIM card reader.
