This paper aims to present a comprehensive review of, and comparison between TQM
and SCM to identify their similarities and differences. The comparison includes a
discussion of the philosophical perspectives, goals, integration, and evolutions of the two approaches. It is not always easy to implement either TQM or SCM on its own. Hence, the difficulties and risks increase when they are integrated. Understanding the conceptual similarities and differences of both approaches however, could improve the conditions for integrated implementation by achieving synergy and avoiding failure. It could also help identify areas for future research opportunities about an integrated TQM and SCM implementation. A comparison of both concepts is summarized in Table I.
