It is a slow loris, a small primate native to Southeast Asia. They are endangered and frequently sold and traded in pet markets, illegally. They have also been popularized as pets in viral videos on YouTube, increasing the problem. Slow lorises are poisonous and have their teeth cut or pulled out for the pet trade, which results in both poor nutrition and an inability to effectively groom themselves. They produce the poison by licking a gland on their arm and then mix it with its saliva to activate it. Their toxic bite deters predators, which they apply to their fur during grooming/licking. This defense evolved as a way to protect their babies and themselves, because they move so slowly and deliberately. They make very little to no noise while moving, and when threatened, they freeze. Unfortunately this make it easy to trap them to sell as pets. They are incredibly adorable, but also very bad as pets. Sorry to be a spoil sport, but primates are a huge love of mine. It breaks my heart to see them kept this way.
