The following research themes emerged from the literature, as logical groupings of success and failure
factors in agile project delivery: Culture, Customer Involvement & Mandate, Stakeholder Involvement
& Buy-In, Team Structure & Team Logistics, Project Type & Project Planning, and Skill Level &
Attitude of Team Members. Each will be considered in turn, discussing what were the findings in the
research and what the literature offers. An assumption is made that success and failure factors are
directly related in the sense that success factors include the relevant and opposite failure factor in
many cases. In other words an example would be where, the success factor; tools and techniques
should support agile practices, includes the failure factor notion of; inappropriate technology and tools
