Educational technology in Australia has had a number of enthusiastic moments and some setbacks over the past 30 years but is currently enjoying resurgence. Both within and outside the education community, there is a growing recognition that technology itself is not a ready panacea for economic and other ills, including those associated with teaching and learning. Rather, it is being acknowledged that human ingenuity and creativity that direct technological development and application are at the Centre of successful technology based accomplishments in education as in other aspects of society and life. The Road to this exciting realization has not always been straight, narrow and direct. On the contrary, it has travelled over a variety of rougher and smoother terrains and has wound through both negative and positive territories.
