Phone theft: Fast food, faster handsThe list got shorter recently when a fast-food customer lost her smartphone to a man who appeared trustworthy and harmless.
The incident happened at the KFC shop in The Mall Tha Phra, Bangkok. A surveillance camera caught what happened.
A man approached a customer sitting at a table in the fast-food restaurant.
According to Facebook user Thanawat Panthong, he claimed to be the manager and politely asked her to fill out a customer satisfaction survey in return for a gift set.
While she was focused on filling in the form, he calmly stole her phone. He then said he would go to get her the promised gift set. He got up, walked away and never returned.
Another netizen commented that customers should be able to spot abnormal behaviour. Fast food restaurant employees would not disturb their customers, especially while they were eating. Customers can also identify employees as they wear uniforms.
