. Naplr deposits are present in early biopsies and Naplr
antibody levels are detected by western blot in convalescent sera. Host factor like 2:1 male female ratio, tropical climate,
lower socioeconomic background, crowded living
conditions, poor hygiene, malnutrition, anemia,
parasitic infestation have all been implicated as
predisposing factors for APSGN.2Genetic risk factors
for example HLA DRW4, HLADPA1 and HLADPB
alleles are more prevalent in patients with APSGN
than normal population.2Sporadic disease is common
but epidemic outbreaks tend to occur in closed
populations and in less developed countries.
