It is clear from the literature that RFID applications continue to increase at the item
and pallet levels in some industries. As these initiatives advance, concerns will continue
to be minimized or to change. Based on our results, manufacturers still believe that
retailers see more of the benefits. There is still skepticism about the potential for a positive
ROI. As tag and other costs continue to decrease, and as issues such as privacy concerns
are resolved, we expect that both manufacturers and retailers will find increasing
benefits to adopting this technology for appropriate applications (Heim et al., 2009).
