In the books "Divergent" and "Insurgent" Veronica Roth wanted the characters to each have one special ability for ex. Tris was Divergent she could be in three different factions but she knew belonged in one of them. The location in the book that could have been motivated by the author was that she wanted each a big city like Chicago because it's full of different people. The Author also wanted for big ideas in the book are every person is different in their own ways, and don't take friends and family for nothing/ granted. Some issues are also that there is fighting can ruin lives ex. death Tris loses her parents when they are both killed in the simulation protecting her. Another moral from the books are can you trust the people who are closest to you ex. Tris yells at Caleb (Tris's brother) for betraying her and working with and enemy. So the author wants us to identify about trusting closes friends and family, don't take your life for granted you might have a good life and could be very angry and poor
