Morever, when some employees overwork, that usually implies that other employees are slacking off. Those are the honeymooners. And worst of all are the hampsters who just keep tredding along doing the same thing every day and never try to do anything more than they’re asked or seek better methods.
Toyota has used an employee reward-system for decades. It’s called the Creative Idea Suggestion system. Each year, employees of all levels submit ideas to improve the production system and are rewarded bronze, silver or gold medals for their suggestions. In addition, the judging committe then assesses these ideas further and implements them.
Lastly, it’s important that management and executives engage with their employees. One of the principles of the QC100, Busines Initiative Directions’ quality model, is in management and leadership. Falling into this category includes gaining trust from your employees and showing that you recognize the job they’re doing every day. Employee training is also one of the QC100 principles.
