The common method to dry protein products is lyophilization.
Disadvantages of lyophilizaiton
time- and energy-consuming, so the end product is expensive
cause partial degradation of protein, hence incomplete protein recovery
excipients may be adversely affected by the process, crystallization may occur
If solid formulation is the option,
identity and volume of the reconstitution medium must be defined
method of reconstitution should be simple and rapid
the reconstituted product must be stable
