2.2.1 Definition of Learning Strategies
There are various scholar definitions of communication strategies as follows:
O'Malley and Chamot (1990) define that language learning strategies as "the special thoughts or behaviors that individuals use to help them comprehend, learn, or retain new information".
Wenden and Rubin (1987) define that language learning strategies as "any sets of operations, steps, plans, routines used by the learner to facilitate the obtaining, storage, retrieval, and use of information."
Oxford (1990) summarizes idea of language learning strategies by listing twelve key features.
Vocabulary learning strategies are steps taken by the language learners to acquire new English words.
