Pearls, often praised for their unparalleled uniqueness, have long been a timeless symbol of grace for women. As they can be worn on all occasions and in every season, they are also very versatile.
With the vibrant summer heat hitting Bangkok, Mikimoto, Japan's world-renowned cultured pearl accessory brand, has come up with its "Floral Bouquet" spring/summer 2014 collection consisting of beautiful pearl pendants, earrings and brooches.
The new collection, inspired by beautiful bloooming summer flower designs has been designed to capture pearl's delicate, subtle beauty using Akoya, Japan's most famous, high-end cultured pearls, prized for their brilliant lustre and perfectly round and flawlessly beautiful.
The "Floral Bouquet" Akoya Pearl pendant is made of 5.25-6.75 mm pearls, embedded with real diamonds on an 18k white gold setting. The Akoya Pearl earrings feature 5.00-6.75 mm pearls in a cluster of blooming flowers, adorned with real diamonds on 18k white gold. The Akoya pearl brooch is a bouquet of 5.25-6.75mm pearls embedded in a flowery design with real diamonds on 18k white gold.
Akoya pearls are the most popular type produced by Japan's Akoya oysters. Depending on the size of the mother oyster, they grow from 3-10mm, with colours ranging from white, cream and pink to light green, blue and silver. Each pearl harvested is as individual as a fingerprint, making it essential to establish quality grading standards. The five factors to assess quality when buying pearls are lustre (the amount of light a pearl reflects); surface perfection (subtle blemishes and tiny marks are proof of its genuine origin); shape (perfectly round pearls are the rarest and most valuable); colour (the rarer the shade, the more valuable the pearl); and size (high value for large pearls).
