Chalinee Chajaroenying (2005) conducted a study on the topic of “English pop songs” She found that the purposes of the study are to examine the language use in English pop songs. This study focuses the figurative language. All the lyrics of English pop songs used for analysis in this report have been selected from four sources: the international Entertainment Magazine Year Book 1999, The Nation Junior Magazine, English through Music, and the internet. In this study, the meaning of English pop songs and figurative language are described, such as simile, metaphor, personification and so on. The most frequent uses of figurative language are hyperbole and simile.
