So, physical yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises are part of yoga as an encompassing way of life.
There are said to be eight limbs (aṅgas) or “limbs” (components) of practicing yoga:
(1) self-restraint (yama)
(2) observance (niyama)
(3) posture (āsana)
(4) regulation of breath (prāṇayāma)
(5) withdrawal of the senses (pratyāhāra)
(6) steadying the mind (dhāraṇa)
(7) contemplation (dhyāna)
(8) meditative trance (samādhi)
