"We always try to tell people not to ball them up or put them in a barrel," said Roy. He said there's a significant risk of a spontaneous combustion of oily rags when they heat up. In this case, rags were balled up in a pile on the floor and slowly ignited.
The fire burned a 10- by 10-foot hole in the floor, according to Roy. He said the wooden bar was far enough away that it was unharmed.
