The objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the degradation
kinetics chlortoluron during UV/chlorine process, (2) to study
the effects of pH, chlorine dose and UV intensity on the degradation
of chlortoluron during UV/chlorine process, (3) to identify
the degradation intermediates and propose the degradation pathways
of chlortoluron during UV/chlorine process, and (4) to compare
the formation of DBPs during direct chlorination, UV
irradiation and UV/chlorine processes. The presented results can
be used as guidance for the practical application of UV/chlorine
in drinking water treatment plants.
