Sea world theme park for Malacca
MELAKA (Feb 20): A theme park with a concept of a sea world will be built at the 1Malaysia Square in Klebang here, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
He said the RM300 million theme park, which will be built on a 60.7-hectare site, would house the largest whale gallery in the country and would become the new tourism icon in Malaysia.
"The theme park will showcase various species of marine life in a very large aquarium, larger than the Langkawi Underwater World," he told reporters after visiting the project site here today.
Mohd Ali said the project would be implemented jointly by the Melaka Foundation and a private company, Eden Inc.
Meanwhile, the chief minister said several other tourism projects would also be developed at the 1Malaysia Square including a RM2 million Malaysia Map Square, 21 bus restaurants and 20 chalet restaurants costing RM2.7 million, as well as three football fields costing RM1.4 million.
Apart from that, he said 2,000 units of low-cost houses worth RM42,000 each would also be built in the area.
