Short Biographies
Clemens Greiner is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Cultural and Social
Anthropology, University of Cologne, Germany. He holds a PhD from Universität Hamburg.
His current research focuses on land-use change, conflicts, rural-urban migration, changing
social-ecological systems and the transformation of pastoralism in Eastern and Southern Africa.
He has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Kenya and Namibia.
Patrick Sakdapolrak is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Geography, University
of Bonn, Germany.He was educated at University of Heidelberg, Germany and University
of Wollongong, Australia. He holds a PhD from University of Bonn. His current research
interest revolves around the question how vulnerable groups cope with and adapt to social
and environmental stresses. He conducted empirical research on issues related to migration,
health and resource conflicts in South and South-East Asia as well as East Africa.
