In their international research study, Punnett and Shenkar (2007) proposed that
"the new managerial role is much broader than one many managers have been used to"
(p. 485). Even if a manager is conscientious regarding cultural differences, Punnett and
Shenkar noted, this is "only one aspect of managing in a global environment. Learning how to manage across those differences is another. Managers need to learn the reality of
globalization but also the myths" (p. 488).
