Composition of Feeds
Fatty acid content and composition of the
feed components and total diets are in Table 1.
The control diet contained 1.91 g fatty acids/
100 g DM and the lipid-supplemented diet
(milk diet) contained 9.05 g long-chain fatty
acids (>C12)/100 g DM, or 9.91 g total fatty acids/100 g DM. The control diet was rich in
polyunsaturated fatty acids (53.5%), mainly
represented by linoleic (C1s:2 n-6, 30.3%) and
linolenic (C18:3 n-3, 20.1%) acids, and secondarily
by monounsaturated (19.4%, of which
14.4% was Cls: 1 n-9) and saturated 27.1%, of
which 18.0% was C16: 0) fatty acids. The milk
diet contained 9.5% of medium-chain fatty
acids (
