LEAP 3 and Basic Sponsorship considerations
Questions for National Office discussion(draft)
Background: The aim of child sponsorship is the sustained well-being of children, especially the most vulnerable, within their families and communities. Our aspirations are that all children would enjoy good health, be educated for life, be cared for, protected, and participating, and experience love of God and their neighbours (Child Sponsorship policy, 2014). Sponsorship minimum programming standards (SMPS) focused on critical well-being needs of children (including RC) need to be addressed appropriately in programmes supported by Child Sponsorship.
Broadly it is important to consider how is sponsorship reflected/captured in the NO strategic objectives and operationalized at NO and programme levels? Also how is sponsorship articulated in the CESP?
Key Questions
1. Are Technical Projects coming together at the AP level to address the critical needs of all vulnerable children (including RC) in an integrated and multi-sectoral way? How?
2. Are Registered Children among the primary beneficiaries of technical programmes/projects? How will all /most RC be covered by the Technical projects selected for implementation in each AP?
3. At the area programme level, does the programme plan address RC of all age groups adequately? If RC are NOT primary beneficiaries of technical programmes and projects (e.g. a health and nutrition project implemented as the only project in an ADP where most RC are above 6 years of age), what plans are in place to ensure that RC benefit from interventions that are based on good practice?
4. If the plan is to address critical issues like lack of education, health or protection through partners or through advocacy interventions,are there plans in the programme design/plan for implementation (advocacy interventions), monitoring and reporting these outcomes?
5. At the area programme level, what plans are in place for sponsorship activities like child monitoring and sponsorship communications to be integrated with other project activities as a means of promoting protection and participation?
