One of our people principles states that “Good results can only be achieved through excellent leadership and a focus on performance”. This important principle underpins our performance management philosophy. Over the last two years we have made a number of changes to Performance Management in Syngenta; in 2012, we implemented a new policy and in 2013, we launched an online tool to help us create a more systematic link between goal setting, and rating rewarding achievements against goals under the banner of ‘Rewarding Performance’.
With recent changes in my leadership team and in common with the way many companies manage this very important process, I have decided to move the leadership of Performance Management into the Compensation & Benefits COE, led by Maryann Barnacle. Maryann and her team will be responsible for the entire performance management cycle culminating in the annual salary review and incentive awards.
In addition, to ensure we look at our key people processes in a more holistic way from end to end, we have set up a Global Annual People Process (GAPP) Steering Committee, comprising members from the POD and C&B CoE’s, HR Services, HR BP’s and Communications.
Please note that the career planning and development aspects of PM remain in POD and of course, any training to support PM will be continue to be the responsibility of Global Learning & Development, led by Leandro Perez.
