Then, a cross-shaped cut of a length of 20 mm was made on each sample.
The samples were submerged in a suspension of R. arrhizus spores
(105 CFU/ml) for 2 min and left for 15 min for drying. Thereafter, two
layers of coat-forming solution (the same composition as described
above – 2.9.) were sprayed on the whole apple surface using an
aerograph (PZ-270XS with a 0.5 mm nozzle from PointZero Airbrush
Co., USA). Coated raw materials were stored in a laminar chamber at
24 °C for 2 h and RH 60%. Mold growth on the apples was checked
each day by measuring the diameter of material decay from the
cutting site. The results were provided in millimeters (Maqbool, Ali,
Ramachandran, Smith, & Alderson, 2010; with ourmodification).
