Whenever a tourist was killed or injured, tourism officials reached the scene to offer help and many problems could not be solved right away, she said. Authorities must wait for thorough studies and solutions.
Many problems resulted from reckless and lenient operators, including those who used substandard or overloaded buses, and irresponsible drivers, while some problems were caused by tourists who ignored regulations, Ms Kobkarn said.
For example, some solutions were implemented step by step to improve jet ski services on beaches at major resorts such as Pattaya and Phuket. This tourism service rarely has problems now, she said.
Jet ski operators were told that all vehicles must be registered and checked, with clear zoning for tourists to ride jet skis.
