Ethical Considerations
Ethical guidelines that apply to empirical studies in Sweden were followed. Ethical approval was not required from an external committee because the research questions regarded the nurse's work and no sensitive information regarding participant's health or similar such matter, were collected; nor was any personal data concerning were was any personal data concerning participants filed. However, permission from the administrative chief was obtained. In addition, an external colleague at the university reviewed the process with regard to the national laws. The work follows the recommendations of the Declaration of Helsinki and was based on guidelines for research in the humanities. Prior to the study, participants were provided verbal and written information about the study and meaning of participation. Participants were informed of the voluntary nature of their participation and were able to decline participation at any time without providing justification. They were also informed that the material would be handled confidentially and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals.
