The use of a variable differential (three-terminal) capacitor with the bridge circuit in the Equibar differential pressure transducer is showed below. A thin stainless-steel diaphragm is clamped between the disk and serve as the movable plate. With equal pressures applied to both ports, the diaphragm is in neutral position. The bridge is balance, ande_0 is zero. If one pressure is greater than the other, the diaphragm deflects in proportion, giving an output at e_0 in proportion to the differential pressure This method allows measurement of static deflections. Such differential-capacitor arrangements also exhibit considerably greater linearity than do single capacitor types.
