Introduction
The skin is the body’s largest organ,
and while it is a complex organ it
has the unique capacity to renew
itself. The skin performs a number
of vital functions, including providing
sensation, thermoregulation,
biochemical reactions and display,
while also acting as a barrier to the
naturally desiccating environment.
When the skin is intact and
functioning correctly, we don’t think
about it, but when something goes
wrong, we can usually feel it, we can
usually see it and often others can see
it too.
