foot ulceration in patients with diabetes
and autonomic neuropathy (Locke et
al, 2012). At present, it is unclear how
many diabetic foot ulcers are preceded
by anhydrotic fissures. However,
fissures affecting the foot appear to
be common in patients with diabetes
(Locke et al, 2012). The treatment
of xerosis is therefore paramount
and must be implemented early on
(Garrigue et al, 2011).
